Recovery Jobs for the Mental Win

What do you do when you need to work - but are too traumatized by your last job to go back to doing more of the same?

This can be a very painful conundrum for so many people in the workplace!

PTSD from work can feel like a terrible - and often debilitating breakup. But unlike relationships or dating, most of us still need to face working again.

This is a question that most, if not all, of my #careerchangecoaching clients ask themselves. Either while they are deciding whether to #stayorleavedistressingwork or after they do move on.

We work through ideas together but one that does not get enough attention is the notion of a "recovery job."

What is a recovery job anyway?

😘 One that is materially different from the one that caused harm. Different industry? Responsibilities?
😘 One that may be temporary while you recover.
😘 One that may pay you less. Possibly a lot less. But in return you receive healing - and still contribute meaningfully.
😘 One that helps you repair and rebuild your mental health.

What are some good examples of recovery jobs YOU can think of?
