What if it’s actually Easy?

At the risk of offending everyone struggling on LinkedIn right now: what could be easy?

Stick with me here while I tell you the story...

Many years ago, I moved in with a boyfriend. It didn't last long, unfortunately.
He moved out after 6 months. I was left to cry and recover and deal with all of the crap involved in maintaining a house by myself.

Then came fall and the effin' chestnut tree that dumped crap all over the yard. I was completely overwhelmed by the mess and the vast effort to clean it up.

I called my mom.

She advised me to "think of it as easy."

WTF, mom? This is a giant yard full of leaves that I only have until tomorrow to bag up!!

I didn't say it exactly like that. I love my mom. (You would too.)

But she was right. I told myself over and over "this is easy!"

And it was.

Since then I have shared this concept with many people.
My husband. All of my coaching clients.

It works. Try it yourself the next time you are faced with a stressful or scary or daunting task.

Like deciding what to do next in your career.
Or sending out yet another resume.

I guarantee telling yourself "it is easy" works far better than anything else you are currently saying to yourself.
